PLANNING YOUR ELOPEMENT + INTIMATE WEDDING

You don't have to know exactly what you want yet.

Maybe you know you want to get married somewhere beautiful, but that's about as far as you've gotten. Maybe you've saved waterfalls, courthouses, cabins, mountain overlooks and one wildly expensive venue that doesn't even make sense anymore. Maybe you still want the dress, flowers, your parents there and a really good dinner - you just don't want everything that somehow gets attached to the word wedding.

That's actually a very good place to start.

River Branch helps you sort through what you want to keep, what you'd happily skip and what might work better if we reinvent it completely. Then we take those ideas and figure out the practical side - location, access, permits, guests, weather, vendors, timing, physical effort and all the questions you probably don't know to ask yet.

You don't need to arrive with a wedding plan.

Tell us what you already know. We'll build outward from there.

FIRST, WE FIGURE OUT WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS

One of the strangest things about planning a wedding is how quickly other people's expectations become your to-do list. Suddenly you're making decisions about favors, seating charts, wedding parties, signage and traditions you never actually asked for - because somewhere along the way, those things became what a wedding is supposed to include.

We'd rather start somewhere else.

What would genuinely hurt to leave out? What are you doing because you love it? What are you doing because somebody told you that's what married people do? And which pieces still matter emotionally, but don't necessarily need to happen in their traditional form?

Keep, skip and reinvent wedding planning cards helping couples choose which traditions matter for their elopement or intimate wedding.

You don't have to reject weddings. You just don't have to take every part of one.

You can wear the incredible dress without having a ballroom reception. You can have cake without 100 guests. Your dad can walk you down the aisle without there being twelve rows of chairs behind him. You can have a first dance under trees, on a courthouse sidewalk, beside a cabin or somewhere nobody thought to put a dance floor.

The goal isn't to strip your wedding down until there's nothing left.

It's to make sure what's left actually belongs there.

THEN WE START ASKING BETTER QUESTIONS

Pretty is only step one.

Once we understand what you're actually trying to build, we start looking at whether the idea works in real life.

Because finding a beautiful place on Pinterest is easy. Finding out whether you can hold a ceremony there, where everyone parks, whether your grandmother can reach it, where you're getting dressed, what happens when it rains and whether the road is even open that time of year is the part that changes everything.

YOU DO NOT NEED 47 MORE TABS OPEN

More information isn't always more helpful.

Planning help shouldn't mean handing you another enormous list of places to research.

If you tell us you want water, privacy, very little hiking, room for six people and somewhere everyone can have dinner afterward, we're not going to send you 47 waterfalls and wish you luck. We're going to start narrowing.

Which ones actually allow what you're planning? Which are realistic for your guests? Which require permits? Which have parking? Where could you get ready? What does the weather usually mean for the experience you're imagining? Are there better options you haven't found yet?

Then we bring you choices that make sense.

Because one of the biggest luxuries we can give you isn't another idea.

It's fewer decisions that actually need your attention.

WHAT WE'RE ACTUALLY WORKING ON

Planning guidance should mean more than “let us know if you have questions.”

River Branch elopement planning services covering location research, permits, timeline design, accessibility, vendors and backup plans.

We're not interested in calling something planning support and then waiting for you to somehow know what you need help with.

The level of involvement will depend on your experience, but these are some of the things we're actively looking at while we build it with you.

______ WE DON'T START WITH A PIN ON A MAP ______

We start with the experience, then work backward to the place.

Scenic mountain, Florida spring and beach locations with an off-road vehicle illustrating River Branch adventure elopement planning and access.

“Where do you want to elope?” sounds like an obvious first question.

Sometimes it isn't.

We'd rather know whether you want mountains or water. Whether you want to walk for an hour or drive somewhere incredible and walk for five minutes. Whether you're bringing your parents. Whether privacy matters more than a sweeping view. Whether 45 degrees sounds romantic or absolutely miserable. Whether there is already somewhere that belongs to your relationship - or whether part of the fun is going somewhere neither of you has ever seen.

Then we can start matching the place to the day.

A location can be beautiful in photographs and still be completely wrong for your wedding. And somewhere quieter, easier or less famous may turn out to be exactly right once we understand what you're actually trying to experience.

IF YOU'RE BRINGING PEOPLE

Small weddings can get complicated in surprisingly emotional ways.

Maybe you want your parents there but nobody else. Maybe inviting parents means siblings suddenly feel obvious, which makes partners feel obvious, which somehow leads to an aunt you haven't spoken to since Christmas 2023. Guest lists have a funny way of growing legs.

We're not here to tell you who deserves an invitation. And we're definitely not going to give you a cheerful little “It's YOUR day!” speech and pretend the people you love don't have feelings.

Instead, we can help you think about what presence actually changes.

Who makes the moment feel calmer? Who would you genuinely miss? At what number does the experience stop feeling intimate to you? Are you including someone because you want them beside you, or because you're afraid of what happens if they're not?

You can love your people deeply and still want the moment you get married to feel protected.

And yes - parents, grandparents, siblings and a handful of your closest people can absolutely be part of an elopement or intimate wedding without accidentally rebuilding the wedding you were trying to avoid.

HOW THIS ACTUALLY WORKS __________________

From “we have an idea” to “we're doing this.”

THE PART NOBODY PUTS ON PINTEREST

Okay... but where are you supposed to change clothes?

This is exactly the kind of question we mean when we say we look at the experience as a whole.

A remote location might photograph beautifully and still leave you wondering where hair and makeup happens, whether there is a restroom, where your things are going, whether you're hiking in wedding clothes or what happens when the only mirror within 30 miles is attached to your car visor.

Those aren't tiny details once you're actually living the day.

We look at lodging, cabins, restrooms, changing options, vehicle access, walking distance, privacy, vendor travel and whether having a nearby basecamp would make everything easier. Sometimes the smartest plan is hiking. Sometimes it's changing near the location. Sometimes it's a scenic road and a five-minute walk.

There is no River Branch rule that says you need to suffer for the scenery.

Adventure doesn't have an entrance exam.

PLANNED FOR THE EXPERIENCE - NOT THE PERFORMANCE

Your wedding shouldn't become an eight-hour photoshoot.

Photography matters here. A lot.

Good light matters. Travel time matters. Knowing when a location becomes crowded matters. Leaving enough time for portraits matters.

But none of that requires us to spend the entire day constantly interrupting you to manufacture photographs.

We'll intentionally create portraits. DeShawna will give you direction when you need it. And yes, if a ridiculous sunset shows up, we're absolutely going to stop for it. But there should also be long stretches when you're eating, exploring, talking, laughing, getting married or simply standing somewhere incredible without wondering whether you're supposed to turn toward the camera.

The photographs should come from your wedding day.

Your wedding day shouldn't exist solely to create photographs.

WHEN THE WEDDING BECOMES A TRIP

Because “eight guests” can still somehow become twelve reservations.

Once people start traveling, the wedding and the trip tend to blur together.

Where is everyone staying? Does the location require a rental car? Where are you eating afterward? Should everyone stay together or nearby? Is there something worth doing the next morning? Are you heading straight into a honeymoon? And whose job is it to figure out why one hotel is supposedly ten minutes away when every map says otherwise?

River Branch can help connect those pieces too.

Travel support can include hotels, flights, lodging, room blocks, transportation, reservations, activities, romantic getaways and honeymoon planning. Straightforward travel bookings may sometimes be available without an additional planning fee when the booking itself compensates River Branch. More involved itineraries, multiple reservations, guest coordination and higher-touch support may require expanded concierge planning.

You don't need to decide which category you're in before talking to us.

TRAVEL PLANS HIT DIFFERENT TOGETHER

A QUICK NOTE ABOUT “PLANNING” __________

We're very good at small. We're not trying to turn small into a production.

For elopements and intimate weddings, River Branch can help with the ceremony and the experience surrounding it - locations, vendors, guests, timelines, reservations, lodging, travel flow and the pieces that make sense for what you're building.

What we're not trying to become is a traditional full-service reception planning company.

If the plan grows into a large reception with extensive rentals, seating charts, catering management, production schedules and dozens of vendors, that's a different kind of planning. We'd rather be clear about that than say yes to everything and become mediocre at the part we actually want to do exceptionally well.

River Branch is built for the couple who wants fewer moving pieces - not less of a wedding.

River Branch Adventure Co. planning journal, location research, maps and communication process for elopement and intimate wedding planning.

AND THEN - WE DON'T DISAPPEAR

Booking shouldn't be the moment communication falls off a cliff.

There is a weird version of the wedding industry where you have three lovely conversations, sign a contract, pay a deposit... and then wonder whether you're supposed to hear from anyone again until two weeks before the wedding.

That's not the experience we're trying to build.

Once you're booked, you should understand what happens next. We'll move through research, decisions, logistics and your timeline in stages rather than dropping one enormous planning assignment in your lap. Sometimes you'll need to make a decision. Sometimes we're researching something. Sometimes nothing needs your attention at all.

And if we're working through something that needs a little time, we'd rather tell you that than leave you wondering whether your message disappeared into the forest.

You should know where you are in the process.

MORE QUESTIONS ARE NORMAL

Still have seventeen tabs open?

We've answered a lot of the questions that tend to appear once couples realize they can do this differently - guests, family, hiking, permits, weather, photography, travel, traditions, accessibility and what happens when the plan doesn't go exactly according to plan.

And we're adding more as couples keep asking better questions.

START BEFORE YOU'RE READY

Bring us the part you've figured out.

You don't need the location.

You don't need the guest list.

You don't need to know whether this is technically an elopement, intimate wedding, courthouse wedding or something you don't have a name for yet.

Maybe all you know is that you want your mom there. Or that you want mountains but refuse to hike in formal clothes. Or that you've always pictured an incredible wedding dress and absolutely never pictured a ballroom. Maybe you just spent three hours researching waterfalls and have reached the deeply scientific conclusion that they're all pretty.

That's enough.

Tell us what you're trying to keep. Tell us what you're trying to get away from. Tell us which part of getting married feels like it needs protecting.

We'll start there.
